Writing from the seat of my pants

After I wrote the first outlined scene of my novel, and I became terrified of my chances for success, I went outside my outline and wrote the second scene from the seat of my pants. It was what I needed.

I wrote the scene just to get things flowing, but after writing it, and then reviewing it, I realized I could use it to strengthen a weaker scene in my story later on. Amazing how that worked out.

I'm now about 1,500 words into this novel and feeling more comfortable. I may be wrapping up Chapter 1 very soon.
