Adverbial objectives

Think of an adverbial objective as a prepositional phrase without the preposition. It functions like an adverb but is a noun.

Bill walked an hour.


Subject = Bill
Verb = walked
Adverbial objective = hour
Determiner (article) = an

Bill walked for an hour.

Subject = Bill
Verb = walked
Prepositional phrase = for an hour
Preposition = for
Object of preposition = hour
Determiner (article) = an

Bill walked quickly.

Subject = Bill
Verb = walked
Adverb = quickly
